Food insecurity is a growing issue that affects many Arizona students. The Campus Pantry, which opened its doors in 2012, continues to assist all students by providing healthy food for free! Each week, they serve approximately 550 students.
The University of Arizona Parents & Family Association (PFA) Advisory Board had the opportunity to tour and volunteer at the Campus Pantry in February 2020. We learned about the history of the Campus Pantry, prepared food for distribution and met the incredible, hardworking Campus Pantry staff.
In the past two years, the PFA Advisory Board have fundraised over $20,000 for the Campus Pantry and are passionate about continuing to support UA students and the campus. Traditionally, we would host a fundraising golf tournament during Family Weekend. This year, we have come up with a creative way to continue fundraising safely by launching this virtual crowdfunding campaign.
Can we count on you to support the Campus Pantry today? If you and 137 fellow Wildcat Family members make a gift of $26, we can feed 550 students for one week. Help us fill the Campus Pantry‘s shelves for our Wildcats!
Where the food comes from:
Donated canned and boxed items like soup, peanut butter, and pasta
Fresh vegetables are grown in the Student Union’s rooftop garden
Additional fresh fruit, vegetables, and proteins are purchased with funds from supporters like you!
Why we need the Campus Pantry:
Approximately 20 percent of undergraduate students across campus have reported skipping meals or eating less due to lack of money
Over 52 percent of students found themselves choosing unhealthy meals because more nutritious options were too expensive
