Help Us Re-Pave the Road on Tumamoc Hill

This campaign has concluded, but if you would like to still become a Friend of Tumamoc Hill, please click here.

~~~
If you have ever walked Tumamoc, you know all too well that the road is in need of re-pavement. In partnership with the University of Arizona, there is an opportunity to do so, but we need your help!
People come from all over Tucson and beyond to walk Tumamoc Hill. They come for fitness, friendship, spiritual rejuvenation, the views… oh, and did we say fitness? The 1.5 mile walk to the top is difficult and will challenge even the most physically fit individual. With your help, we can re-pave the road to make this challenging hike a little bit easier by slightly widening the road and removing cracks in the asphalt.
Even more important, a new road on Tumamoc Hill will pave the way for future changes coming to the Hill, including a revived entry portal and Visitor's Center, and improve access to the Desert Laboratory for our scientists.
Why do we need your help? Here are the numbers:
  • The total cost of the re-pavement project is $200,000.
  • The University of Arizona has agreed to provide $100,000 to kick start the project.
  • David and Edith Sykes Lowell (granddaughter of Godfrey Sykes, one of Tumamoc Hill’s early scientists) have generously agreed to provide a dollar-for-dollar match up to $50,000 so your gift will have twice the impact!
With your gift of any size, you will become a Friend of Tumamoc Hill. As a Friend of Tumamoc, you will receive exclusive updates and invitations that will allow you to learn about and engage more deeply with Tumamoc.
