Thank You- We Exceeded our Goal

January 05, 2016

Thank you for giving to the Hunter White Safe Spring Break Endowment. Due to your generous gifts, we were able to raise $12,725!!!! This amount, combined with the challenge gift from the Sigma Alpha Epsilon chapter, brings the total raised to $22,725!!!! This is amazing.

The money raised will be used to support the annual Hunter White Safe Spring Break Symposium. We invite you to join us on March 8th at 6pm at Centennial Hall on the University of Arizona campus so that you can experience this impactful program and see firsthand the difference you are making by supporting this program.

Below are two quotes from student attendees at the 2015 program. Additionally, check out the image included to read the words most commonly used  by students when they reflected on the program from last year.

"Hearing that story really made a big impact on me and my spring break plans. I went to Rocky Point over the break and I volunteered to be DD a couple of the nights because I wanted to get my friends and I home safely. I always made sure when we were getting home that we had DDs. If I didn't hear this story before spring break I don't think I would of been as cautious."

UA Freshman student, 2015

"I learned that It is very important to remain safe over spring break. Don't ever think that danger will never hit you, because it could unexpectedly. Always call a cab if you have been drinking, never let your friends convince you that they can drive if they have been drinking. It is always worth it to take a cab, it could save your life."

~ UA Sorority Chapter Officer, 2015

As you can tell, this program really helps students make safe choices and stay safe. Thank you for making a difference!

Your giving makes an impact

December 18, 2015

As a previous Hunter White Health Advocate, Risk Manager, and current Chapter President, I have seen the significant positive impact the Hunter White program has had on the Greek Community. The programming keeps our Greek family safe, in an engaging and realistic way. Students apply their knowledge from the Health Advocate and Spring Break programs in supporting and promoting behavior among their peers to ensure they have a successful college career. Thank you for investing in this important program.

Why I Give

December 04, 2015

As an alumni member of Phi Gamma Delta, and one of Hunter’s friends who was involved in the spring break trip where Hunter passed away, I believe in the importance of talking to young adults about safe choices prior to spring break.  The Hunter White Safe Spring Break Program is something that I’m honored to be a part of, and even more honored, to see the impact that it has had on freshman in the Greek community.  Over the last eight years of the program, I have had the opportunity to speak at some of these events and personally witness the impact being made during each educational program. The safety messages shared during the symposium give every freshman involved in the Greek System firsthand knowledge of the possible dangers they could encounter at spring break. I remain involved with this program and this cause because I do not want any other group of friends to go through what I did when Hunter died. Teaching students to make safe choices and take care of their friends is one way I know I am helping to positively honor Hunter’s memory.

SAE Challenge Gift- We can do it!

November 24, 2015

Sigma Alpha Epsilon is proud to have donated to the Hunter White Spring Break program and hope to help bring awareness to this impactfull program. Student safety is not just the University’s responsibility, or the UAPD’s responsibility, it’s the responsibility of each and every student at the University of Arizona.  We hope that other Greek Chapters and alumni will recognize the program’s importance and choose to donate generously as well.
