Arizona Insect Festival

Help the Arizona Insect Festival take flight!

Did you know that insects represent the bulk of Earth's known diversity?

Art: Cara Gibson

Further, our six-legged friends make our planet a better place for us to live. For example, for just the four services of crop pollination, wildlife feed, pest control, and cattle waste removal, insects provide an incredible value -- an estimated $67 Billion!!

The Arizona Insect Festival highlights the importance of insects at 20+ booths offering hands-on, interactive exhibits from world-class UA scientists. We receive more than 5,000 visitors on this single day event where folks can learn how tiny insects can be, to how tasty some others are!

Visitors can make observations through microscopes, learn how to identify particular species and see firsthand how insects accomplish their good work.  This unique event offers the opportunity to engage with UA researchers and Arizona insect enthusiasts at a variety of levels. Visitors report appreciating the natural world much more after their experiences at our Festival.

Since the event's inception in 2011, we have engaged over 26,000 visitors and 500 community volunteers. We run primarily on volunteerism -- 150 dedicated University of Arizona faculty, staff, post-doctoral fellows and students join nearly 100 community members to conduct this day of outreach.

Our blended workforce also forges an incredible tie between researchers and community members of all ages. Many of our community volunteers are middle or high school students who tell us that this powerful experience improved their sense of place and gave them a voice in integrated science education.

The Arizona Insect Festival is completely free. This makes it inclusive and gives everyone a chance to enjoy learning science together.

To continue staging this opportunity we need support. Your contribution to this campaign will help us to build a stronger financial platform for continued success well into the future. Donations will be used for staff support and to keep pace with our growing demand for supplies -- our audience has more than tripled in the past five years!

Donations are tax deductible, and a link to a downloadable card noting your contribution will be provided  -- perfect for holiday giving!

Your contribution will allow us to continue to give the gifts of science, nature and stronger community connections! Please support this wonderful opportunity.

Thank you in advance!
