Thank you! We raised $3,995!!
Although, we did not meet our goal, we appreciate every donation especially during these challenging times. With your support, our Health Promotion program will continue to serve American Indian youth and their families.
You demonstrated that you believe in making a brighter future for our American Indian communities and, most importantly, for future generations.
May you receive many returns on your donation. We are eternally grateful, thank you!
You still have time to donate and make a difference. We have only four days left.
Our program works, as parents can testify:
"I liked the breathing exercise and dream catcher activity because it is important to include the cultural content."
"I liked the 60 second challenge. I am wanting to work out more, so physical activity helped."
"I liked the Rethink your drink activity because it's a good reminder of what is good/what is not good, and of all the sugar that can be found in drinks."
Please donate today! If you have donated, thank you for your contribution.
Your donations help American Indian youth and their families strive for a healthier lifestyle. This past year's camp has yielded promising outcomes and we will continue to do so with your help.
We know that these times have been difficult for all of us, but just know that your support helps us to help them.
Our project is the first to incorporate the use of mind body medicine (MBM) skills training and parental coaching in an intervention that addresses American Indian adolescent health behaviors and family relationships.
MBM skills teach youth about the interconnectedness of their emotions, mental processes, behaviors, and the body (e.g. physical sensations). MBM skills are taught in a group setting. By participating in the groups, the youth are able to learn and practice self awareness techniques.
Parental coaching focuses on building skills specifically for positive reinforcement, consistent and structured messaging, and role-modeling. By participating in the program, the parents are able to learn and practice being strong health advocates for their families.
With your support, we will be able to continue make these sessions an important piece of our program.
Your donations are helping!
Your contributions helps to sustain our program! This includes, but is not limited to, helping us to educate American Indian youth on the importance of a healthy diet and increased physical activity. These two components of health are important in improving the quality of life for the youth and their families. You are helping us make a difference in the lives of American Indian youth and their families. Any amount helps.
Your contribution helps to provide American Indian youth with items to facilitate healthier diets and active lifestyles, for example:

The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted American Indian families (see image).
Through household surveys, many of our 2020 Camp in A Box participating families reported experiencing stress and financial and food scarcity challenges as a result of the pandemic. Fifty percent (50%) of respondents reported worrying that food would run out before getting money to buy more and 47% reported worrying that food purchased wouldn’t last and there would not be enough money to buy more.
A $100 can help us with ‘Family Boxes’ which include food sources (beans, rice, spaghetti, canned vegetables, healthy snacks), household products (dish soap, gloves, trash bags, paper towels, napkins) and personal products (sunscreen, insect repellent, shampoo, foot powder, hand soap, sanitizer). The Family Boxes are in addition to our health promotion efforts.
So far, approximately 87 Family Boxes have been sent to American Indian families throughout Arizona. Recently, a “Thanksgiving Box” was sent that includes all the holiday fixings (except the turkey).
Donate today to help us continue this work. If you have already donated, Thank You!
“Every family commented on the value of the Family Boxes and thanked us for including these as part of our camp program,” said Dr. Francine Gachupin, Camp Director. “The parents said the items were useful and timely.”
