Hello Everyone, We want to thank you all for helping us reach our goal! This is the Date of Departure for our Arizona Summer Study in Leipzig Program. “It is a completely different ballgame to see these sites and learn about them while experiencing them”

photo 1Thank you again to our wonderful donors for getting us past 80% of our goal. We appreciate all donations and support no matter how big or small. The hands on experience our programs provide help students develop and discover a real passion for their studies as discussed in the following statement from a participant in the Medieval Europe Study Tour:

From a historical perspective, it is a completely different ballgame to see these sites and learn about them while experiencing them. . . . . [The Medieval Europe Study Tour] brings history to life and (at least for me) caused me to go from hating history to loving it. Since this trip, I have read more books on my own time about the Holy Roman Empire and medieval Europe. I now find these topics to be more fun and interesting than any video game that I have ever played. My renewed interest in history now goes beyond just the time period that we learned about on this trip, but I absolutely owe this interest to the [Medieval Europe Study Tour].

Thank you to our donors for getting us to almost 75% of our goal! Our Study Abroad programs can create a positive lifelong impact and opens many doors to our students. Please see what one of our graduates had to say about the program in her own words:

I studied abroad for a year in Germany thanks to the Federation of German-American Clubs (VDAC) scholarship, and the time I spent studying at Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen and exploring Baden-Württemberg and beyond was absolutely life-changing! I am so thankful for this opportunity which allowed me to make lifelong friends, work on my language skills, and see the world! My study abroad experience also influenced my career path, and I have spent the last four years working in international higher education- first supporting international students completing their degrees here at UArizona, and now working with domestic students on achieving their study abroad dreams. I can’t recommend studying abroad highly enough; you truly never know where it will take you!

"I saw the world through a completely new lens."

April 14, 2023

Thank you so much to our donors for helping us raise over two thirds of our goal in the first 10 days! This will help us provide more students with a valuable hands on learning experience. Here is what one of our previous students had to say about Study Abroad in their own words:

I received my Bachelor’s in German Studies in 2016 and my Master’s in German Studies with an emphasis in Pedagogy. As an undergraduate, I participated in the Leipzig program with Dr. Ecke the summer of my first year, and through this program, I saw the world through a completely new lens. Experiencing a massive city with such a complex and rich history with the incredible teaching team guiding our group through it all inspired me to apply for the VDAC Exchange program, which is a yearlong program that matches students from the United States and Germany to trade universities. The faculty in the German Studies Department encouraged me through the application process and lent a great deal of emotional support to me when I was alone in German city trying to find my way through bureaucratic systems.
