History of the Department
In 1974, Dr. Jay F. Nunamaker, Jr. founded the MIS Department at the University of Arizona. The world's first information systems curriculum was developed in partnership with the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM) and other schools. Today, the department offers two undergraduate majors, three master's programs, graduate certificates and a doctoral program.
