This March, Honors Alternative Spring Break students will embark on a week-long trip to Whiteriver, AZ. During the trip, students will go to the White Mountain Apache Reservation to work primarily with the Tribe’s Water Resources Department. The work done will center on indigenous food sovereignty, explored through a variety of projects and activities ranging from farm work, community workshops, and working alongside and hearing from tribal members.
Honors Alternative Spring Break (HASB) gives students the opportunity to travel during their UA spring break to a new community, where they work with a partner organization to accomplish specific goals and improve the local communities. This experience teaches students what it means to be an engaged and responsible citizen, which they find to be rewarding, eye-opening, and life-altering.
