Dear New Start Family,

WOW! We are blown away by how this community came together and made our 2024 campaign a giant success. Thanks to you, we ultimately surpassed our $5,000 goal and finished the fundraiser with a grand total of $8,256. Thank you for your role in making this happen. This will be very impactful for our top New Start scholars as they enter their fall semester. On Friday, we came together to recognize the winning presentations, reflect on our summer, and send our cohort off with a special "see you soon." We hope they are enjoying some well earned rest now!

Your donations will be split among the 8 winning students who created the following presentations:

• Excellence in Research: "Financial Wellness" by Lileah Duncan, Nevaeh Rodriguez, and Larissa Navarro
• Excellence in Innovation: "Entering a New Era" by Angel Lopez and Gabriela Lazcano Morales 
• Excellence in Analysis: "Pathway to a Career in Health Sciences" by Sydney Young, Rylee Chung, and Olivia Carroll

We are so proud of our students, and we are immensely grateful for the support of our alumni, friends, and community members. Attached are some photos from our closing ceremony. Happy Monday!

It's Week 3 of New Start season, and there's so much spirit in the air already! Students have been settling into a routine and forming new connections with their peers. This week, we're hosting a Spirit Week where students and staff are participating in themes such as "Rep Your High School Day" and "Sports Day," all leading up to our annual Monte Carlo event on Friday night.

In a little over two weeks, students will share their New Start Conference presentations, and we can't wait to see what they come up with! In the past two weeks, they have already formed groups of three, selected their topics, and met with Thrive Center staff members for guidance. They also heard from the UA Library on Friday for an interactive presentation on research skills and resources.

We want to shout out the donors who have already contributed to our annual scholarship campaign! So far we have raised $801 toward our $5,000 goal, which is enough to award at least one student with a fall scholarship for their conference efforts. If we hit our goal, we'll have enough to reward 3 groups! A share can go a long way, and we hope this can build some momentum in the next 3 weeks.
