"You truly never know where it will take you!"

May 20, 2025

We are just a few hundred dollars away from our goal. Thanks to donors like you, our students are able to participate in this opportunity which can directly have a positive influence on their careers. Take it from Morgen Daniels:

I studied abroad for a year in Germany thanks to the Federation of German-American Clubs (VDAC) scholarship, and the time I spent studying at Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen and exploring Baden-Württemberg and beyond was absolutely life-changing! I am so thankful for this opportunity which allowed me to make lifelong friends, work on my language skills, and see the world! My study abroad experience also influenced my career path, and I have spent the last four years working in international higher education- first supporting international students completing their degrees here at UArizona, and now working with domestic students on achieving their study abroad dreams. I can’t recommend studying abroad highly enough; you truly never know where it will take you!

Igniting Passions...

May 02, 2025

We are excited to announce that we are extending the deadline for our campaign! Our study abroad program has helps to drive students to further pursue their studies. Take it from Stephanie Della Cella, who participated in 2016:

I received my Bachelor’s in German Studies in 2016 and my Master’s in German Studies with an emphasis in Pedagogy. As an undergraduate, I participated in the Leipzig program with Dr. Ecke the summer of my first year, and through this program, I saw the world through a completely new lens. Experiencing a massive city with such a complex and rich history with the incredible teaching team guiding our group through it all inspired me to apply for the VDAC Exchange program, which is a yearlong program that matches students from the United States and Germany to trade universities. The faculty in the German Studies Department encouraged me through the application process and lent a great deal of emotional support to me when I was alone in German city trying to find my way through bureaucratic systems.

Study Abroad is Truely Transformative

April 18, 2025

Our program allows our students to receive hands on experience with the landmarks, languages and cultures that they are studying. Through these experiences they improve their skills and build confidence. Take it from Emma LaPointe who participated last year:

While the program only lasted about a month, it was a significant learning experience for me. I met many people from Germany with whom I had in-depth conversations about complicated topics, which helped my German-speaking skills. I had many instances of navigating complex situations in German, improving my language skills and confidence in solving problems in America.

Now that I am back home, I feel more mature and independent than before the trip.I had the experience of a lifetime, and I would not change it for anything. Bis später, Deutschland!

- Emma LaPointe

Emma’s testimonial was pulled directly from her article in the Daily Wildcat. You can read more about her experience and her favorite German dish, Eiskaffee, here: https://wildcat.arizona.edu/155650/arts-and-life/my-journey-with-the-arizona-summer-study-in-leipzig-program/#

Forever Bonds

April 14, 2025

Thank you so much to our amazing donors! Thanks to you we are already 75% of the way to our goal. Thanks to you our students are able to make forever bonds and connections through language and history. Take it from Lousie:

Traveling abroad to Leipzig was one of the best experiences of my life. I am so grateful for everything I learned, from observing different cultural intricacies to improving my German language skills. Image of Leipzig's new town hall, which has been in service since 1905. The previous town hall is featured in the carousel above.I was able to connect my family's history with certain landmarks we visited during our excursions, which was very special to me. I will forever have a bond with the friends I met while abroad and can't wait to get back to Germany someday!

Making Lifelong Connections

April 07, 2025

It has been about a week since the start of the campaign and I am happy to say that we have hit 54% of our crowdfunding goal! Thanks to our generous donors! your contributions help our students make lifelong connections to other cultures, languages and friends, through the immersion that studying abroad provides. Take it from Ben, who participated last year:

Studying abroad in Leipzig was a great opportunity to experience another culture and immerse myself in another language. I've traveled abroad many times before, but never truly immersed myself in a foreign culture like I did in Germany. This program has given me a unique outlook on a culture different from mine, and I've continued to learn about German culture through the connection I've made with my German peer at Leipzig University. I still remain in contact with my German peer, and continue to mutually benefit from the experiences we've shared and culture we've experienced
