Help the Meat Judging Team get to Australia!
Exciting News!
I am reaching out on behalf of the 2026 University of Arizona Meat Judging Team. Intercollegiate meat judging began in 1926 and today, over 26 schools across the country participate each year. It is a challenging event where students evaluate various beef, pork and lamb carcasses and cuts. They rank products based on trimness, muscling and quality. Additionally, students assess 15 carcasses for USDA yield and quality grades. They train for one semester and then compete during the spring and fall semesters, with about six contests annually.
This year, the 2026 Meat Judging Team has been invited to compete at the Australian National Meat Judging Contest in Wagga Wagga, Australia, from June 30 to July 5, 2026! Each year, the Australian Intercollegiate Meat Judging Association invites only ONE team from the United States. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for these students to explore the meat industry from a global perspective and represent the university and the United States. This experience also allows students to gain international knowledge and networks. However, travel, especially overseas, can be costly. To help cover these expenses, we are seeking donations. The funds raised will go directly toward travel costs and may also support students with additional supplies. Any remaining funds will be used to support the team’s regular travel needs.
Please support the U of A Meat Judging Team with a gift today as they represent the University and the USA!
