Honors Alternative Spring Break: Houston, TX

After the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey this past fall, University of Arizona honors students rallied to help the people of Houston. As such, Honors Alternative Spring Break has decided to send the Public Health group to serve in Houston this year, aiding in disaster relief as well as public health related service.

Ten Honors students and their adviser will make the week-long trip from Tucson to Houston. The students will work with non-profits focused on the health field and learn about how organizations work together to solve issues surrounding public health and hurricane relief, as well as providing disaster relief and reconstruction services for those affected by the hurricane.

This trip will be the farthest HASB has sent a group yet, as well as the first trip to fly to the destination instead of driving there. We are creating this trip from the ground up-- no HASB group has yet had the opportunity to perform disaster relief! We greatly appreciate your help in making this new and very worthwhile service opportunity possible!
