It was a full, exhausting and exciting two day study trip! I thought it was great to learn about Coronado's Expedition almost 500 years ago that led to Hispanic-American culture in the region today.

I had a general idea of what it would be like, but when I was actually there, all I could think of were the different levels of the social systems and I could see how each level affected another, and how they all interacted. I learned more about three particular levels by going on this trip than I would have by reading a thousand books on the topic.
I learned that in Douglas, the Mayor is very involved with the community and wants to encourage citizen participation and give empowerment to the people so that as a community all together can address their problems and issues.
I honestly loved the class trip.
Thank you to the 15 folks who have supported our crowdfunding project so far! We are 25% funded for a 20 student study trip to the border. This is great progress, especially as we launched our project just before Thanksgiving. Please share the project with those in your network who might be interested in supporting it. We plan for news releases this week. Stay tuned! We have enough funds for 10 students for one night/day so far!
