We did it!

May 01, 2019

Once again, you have helped us achieve our crowdfunding goals, raising $30,001 in support of our educational staff and programs for the coming year! Thanks for everything you have done to help us get here, especially to the 175 people who made a contribution.

Camp Cooper will be a community-funded environmental learning center for the foreseeable future. It's a bright future, and you can count on us continuing to inspire the next generation of environmental responsible citizens for our planet, through memorable learning experiences amongst the wonders of our beloved Sonoran Desert.

We'll keep you updated throughout the year. You can follow us on Facebook and Instagram, and we'll also be sending out our monthly newsletter, with stories about the many different ways in which we achieve our mission.

You should also mark your calendars for Saturday, November 16th. That evening is our donor appreciation night, where we'll celebrate our accomplishments together around the campfire.

On behalf of the entire Cooper Center staff, and all the students, teachers, and family members we serve, thank you!

Sincerely,

Colin Waite

Entering the final week...

April 22, 2019

Dear Camp Cooper Supporters,

It's finally here - the final week of our crowdfunding campaign! As I write this, we have raised $14,145 towards our $30K goal. A whopping 95 people have donated so far, including YOU! Thanks so much for being a part of our efforts.

To get to the finish line and make our goal, we still need your help. Please share our campaign far and wide, along with the reasons why you #SupportCooperCenter and why they should get involved as well.

Remember, every dollar raised goes to help us fund our amazing educational staff. Without passionate leaders for our programs, they're just not the same! We expect to work with more than 3,000 kids next year, and to give them memorable experiences in our Sonoran Desert, we need your help in funding our team.

Thank you once again - our goal is in sight!

From the Desert,

Week 1 Update - It's All About Connections

April 09, 2019

Thanks to you, we've had a very solid first week of our crowdfunding campaign. We're so grateful to each of you that has donated and appreciate everything that you do to help us reach our goal.

Our success so far is due in large part to some very important connections that Camp Cooper has made in recent years. One of these has been on my mind a lot recently. I first met Gladys and Burtt Richardson at a Cooper donor recognition event a few years ago, and I was immediately impressed with their dedication to children. They actually met as camp counselors...and the rest is history. Burtt passed away in February after a battle with Alzheimer's, and Gladys asked us to host his memorial at Cooper. It was a special day, and we have been honored to receive gifts in Burtt's memory this past week.

We've also been incredibly grateful for the support that we receive from our neighbors. The Gates Pass Area Neighborhood Association has once again honored us with a matching challenge, and to the GPANA members who have donated so far - thank you! With your help, we're inspiring kids to be the next generation of protectors for our incomparable Sonoran Desert home.

Lastly, a new challenge was thrown down just yesterday by UA College of Education Dean Bruce Johnson. Bruce, known on the trails at Camp Cooper as "Coyote," has pledged to match up to $1,500 in gifts from students, faculty, and staff of the College between now and next Monday. Bruce helped to craft the original proposal for UA's partnership with Tucson Unified School District at Camp Cooper, and his continued support is critical to our growth and success.

With your help, we're on our way. Now, we ask you to spread the word. Tell others why you #SupportCooperCenter and encourage them to make a gift as well. For us to raise $30K in 30 days, we're going to need new connections to others who support connecting kids with nature in meaningful and memorable ways. You can share the campaign, http://crowdfund.arizona.edu/cooper2019, in emails and on social media.

Thank you!
