Thank you again to each and every donor who supported this project! With your help, in just one month, we were able to raise enough funds to support travel awards for ten UBRP students.
One of these travel awards has already sent Steven Fried to San Diego, CA for the 64th annual meeting of the Biophysical Society. He even won an undergraduate poster competition while he was there!
“I consider myself very fortunate to have been able to attend this international conference, for the new scientific exposure and networking opportunities I received, as well as for personal memories made. I am hence indebted to UBRP for making my attendance at this event possible by granting me a travel award.”

With about two weeks left to go, I am pleased to announce that we have officially exceeded our $5,000 goal!!!
Thanks to the 26 donors who have made a gift to this project so far, we will be able to provide travel awards for ten UBRP students to participate in national and international conferences.

We may have met our goal, but we’re not stopping yet. Any amount raised above our $5,000 goal will go to support UBRP students with high financial need. By providing work-study research positions throughout the academic year, these students have a chance to continue their work in the lab rather than having to find a job off campus to help cover their educational and living expenses. Since launching our crowdfunding effort on Saturday at the UBRP Conference, we have been thrilled about the incredible response. Thanks to each and every one of you who have made an early gift to support travel funds for our URBP students, we have already reached 74% of our goal and have just $1,295 to go!
We also announced to our UBRP students on Saturday that they will have the opportunity to apply for these travel awards. One student has already submitted his application and many more have expressed their plans to do so. So far, thanks to your support, we can say “yes” to seven students who will be able to travel to a national or international conference.

To celebrate the role that the UBRP experience and scientific conference exposure plays in the lives of our graduates and their chosen career paths, make a gift that reflects the current 2,463 UBRP alumni.
To celebrate the important role that our faculty mentors play in shaping the next generation of scientists, or to honor an important mentor in your life, make a gift that reflects the number of faculty currently mentoring UBRP students.
To celebrate the next generation of scientific leaders currently learning and growing and honing their interests through UBRP, make a gift that reflects the number of students who participated in UBRP in Summer 2019.
As always, gifts of $250 or more to support the program will make you a Friend of UBRP. These donors receive a yearly student highlight publication, a personal note from a student, and have access to a designated UBRP student host and reserved seating at the keynote talk at the annual UBRP Conference.
Your gift of $500 will cover the full cost of a travel award for one student. Donors at this level will receive a handwritten thank you note from a student whose conference travel is made possible by their gift.
