The Fight Against Melanoma 2020

Thank you to 138 supporters for giving $16,496 to The Skin Cancer Institute in honor of Skin Cancer Awareness Month. We appreciate you!

Join us to celebrate Skin Cancer Awareness in May

Throughout the month of May, people are encouraged to do their part to raise awareness about skin cancer. Avoiding too much sun, covering up, and using sunscreen is the key to preventing skin cancer. Early detection is important too. When skin cancer is caught early, it is usually treatable.

Join the SCI in celebrating the month of May by protecting and checking your skin!

We hope you will join us for this month-long event.

  • Check out short videos that we will post here from the Skin Cancer Institute and updates from our teams.
  • Donate to help us continue our mission to prevent and cure skin cancer through community outreach, education and research.

Choose the button at the top of the page to give now or choose with the red buttons along the side.

You can add a tribute (in memory of/in honor of) for the team you're supporting when you make your gift.

Every donation is appreciated!

Take a moment to watch the videos above from Skin Cancer Institute co-directors Dr. Clara Curiel & Dr. Robin Harris.

Key Dates for the Month of May

Melanoma Monday-First Monday of the month
The aim of Melanoma Monday is to raise awareness about this deadly disease. Melanoma is an aggressive form of skin cancer that when left untreated can spread rapidly to other areas of the body. Melanoma can be deadly if it is not found and treated in the early stages.

Don’t Fry Day- Friday before Memorial Day

To help reduce rising rates of skin cancer caused by overexposure to the ultraviolet (UV) rays of the sun and tanning beds, the National Council on Skin Cancer Prevention has designated the Friday before Memorial Day as “Don’t Fry Day” to encourage sun safety awareness and to remind everyone to protect their skin while enjoying the outdoors.
