The 28th Annual Academic Conference!
This summer, our New Start students will engage in conversations to expand their knowledge as they introduce themselves to research at the university.
The New Start Summer Program provides an opportunity for incoming freshman to take classes, work with peer leaders, and engage in various academic and extracurricular programs to make their transition to the UA successful. One of the key parts of New Start is our two day Academic Conference, where selected students present their original research around the theme of the summer. Summer 2020 is a historic year for the program as we take New Start and the conference fully online. This summer, the students who participate will be creating a visual-spatial argument/presentation about an issue or topic that they are passionate about based on experience(s) and academic research that have brought them to their current position. Some may choose to present their findings as a video speech or "Ted Talk" style presentation, a short documentary, or even an advertisement campaign.
What is your role?
Your support will provide scholarships to the winning conference presenters to be awarded for Fall 2020! Awards are given for the top presentations based on their research, creativity, and overall presentation. Last year, thanks to generous supporters like you, we were able to provide all Academic Conference winners with scholarships! Can we count on you to make a gift to support New Start students' outstanding academic achievements?
