Thank you for helping this dream become a reality!

February 22, 2021

I am so proud of Jacob, Ebitie, Tripp, and Riem for their commitment to make this scholarship a reality. Thank you to the Wildcat community, friends, and family who are helping make their dream a reality. While they have exceeded $12,000, I hope our alumni and friends will continue to promote and support their efforts in making a difference for these students. There are six days left for the campaign and their ultimate goal is to raise $100,000. Your support will help them get there faster and help our students more quickly. Thank you and Bear Down!

We are honored by your support and are excited to announce our new stretch goal!

February 19, 2021

We are humbled by all of the support to empower, celebrate and honor the students! Tonight, we collectively celebrated the Top 50 EAAH Scholars at the annual award ceremony and were so amazed by their Black excellence, brilliance, and resilience that these students are exhibiting. This has been an incredible launch week and we'd like to reach higher for a stretch goal of $12,000 to secure their bright futures. Please consider continuing to amplify and support us in our new goal. Thank you!

Thank you for supporting the Eller African American Honorary Alumni Scholarship!

February 16, 2021

We are blown away with today’s success! The four alumni who started the Eller African American Honorary Alumni Scholarship are so very excited that more funds are being raised to help these deserving students.  Our community stepped up and gave $5,185, surpassing our goal in ONE DAY! Because of this amazing success, we are raising the goal for this 13-day campaign to $7,500. We know our alumni and friends will continue to make a difference by supporting these students during Black History Month. Thank you again to all those who have participated thus far. Bear Down and Go Cats!

Meet Tripp Twyman

"For me the scholarship is an important way to at once empower Black Eller students and reward them for their achievements. When students don't have to worry as much about money, that frees up mental space for them to focus on the next level of enrichment, whether that's exploring new academic interests or assuming a bigger leadership role on campus or leaning into their professional pursuits. I think a lot about what I would've done if I didn't spend so much time working during undergrad, and hopefully this scholarship will help a set of students realize those ideas instead of letting them grow into what-ifs."

Meet Riem Kidane

"This scholarship empowers Black Eller students by serving as an extension of the tools, resources, and community Eller provides. Support - especially from recent graduates - reminds students that alumni are greatly rooting for their success. As an undergraduate, scholarships personally offered me time. Time to learn, time to engage with like-minded peers, and time to apply what I learned in the classroom to priceless experiences. It is my wish that this scholarship leaves each deserving recipient with the time to productively explore their professional dreams rather than focusing on their current financial situation. I greatly look forward to seeing the incredible things our scholarship recipients accomplish in the years to come."

Meet Jacob Lassiter

"A pivotal part of my college experience and academic success was the communities I became involved with. I always knew when I graduated that I wanted to give back to those communities in a meaningful way. It’s is my hope that this endowment fund/scholarship can continue cultivating a strong community of Black student leaders at Eller; enabling them to focus their attention on academic success/passions/pursuits and not the financial cost of their education."

Meet Ebitie Amughan

"My personal role model is our Forever First Lady, Michelle Obama and this particular quote from Michelle resonated with me as motivation to start the endowment fund and scholarship. "The ability to read, write, and analyze; the confidence to stand up and demand justice and equality; the qualifications and connections to get your foot in that door and take your seat at that table -- all of that starts with education." As Michelle said, all of it starts with education and as an immigrant from Nigeria, whose parents instilled the impact of education, I knew that a solid education was the foundation of much success. Education is not limited to the walls of an academic institution and often times we learn so much more from the application and connections formed while obtaining knowledge. My most formative experience at Eller was not the countless lectures in McClelland Hall but instead the times I connected with my peers (now lifelong friends) to create and build something much bigger than ourselves through the Eller African American Honorary. The honorary is our legacy and it is rooted in building community and uplifting Black students to thrive in their collegiate experience. As I navigate life post-grad and I continue to use my voice and influence change for a more equitable future, it is my honor to be a part of this endowment with the original founders of EAAH and to propel students by giving them scholastic aid and investment in their futures."
