We are raising funds for scholarships to send more high school students -- who otherwise likely would not have the opportunity -- to the 2018 Summer Engineering Academy. SEA is a series of one-week camps hosted by the UA College of Engineering.
We will receive a match of $4,000 from a program grant and generous donation if we can raise $4,000. So every dollar you give will be doubled! Every dollar of your donation goes directly to reducing the cost of tuition for need-based students. Financial support above and beyond $4,000 provides scholarships for even more students!
The Summer Engineering Academy is a series of one-week, on-campus camps run by UA College of Engineering students, staff, and faculty. Camps are open to high school students interested in exploring engineering, math, and science. This STEM opportunity exposes students to hands-on lab activities, field trips, and collaborative team-building, showing them first-hand how engineers solve real-world problems.
Camp topics are derived from the Grand Challenges for Engineering, with themes ranging from health and security to sustainability and infrastructure. Our vision is to create a world in which the students we educate today engineer solutions to the problems of tomorrow, making our communities healthier, happier, stronger and more efficient.
SEA has been an outreach initiative in the College of Engineering for over 10 years. More than 220 students from diverse local and national communities attended camp in 2017; a quarter of them received need-based scholarships to help pay for camp. About 35 percent of students who attend SEA go on to pursue STEM majors at the UA. We need your help to continue this legacy!
